ABOUT

From Matt Haynes - Owner

I have wanted to own my own gym ever since I was a sophomore in high school. I began working at my first CrossFit gym called, Ranger CrossFit, in McAllen, Texas and I have been coaching ever since. My wife and I moved to Fort Worth in 2017 for her residency and we were going to be here for the next 5 years. Neither of us had ever been to Fort Worth and I had to figure out what I wanted to do for work. I brainstormed the idea of opening a gym right away but decided it was not a smart idea. Fort Worth is a big city and at the time there were around 12 CrossFit gyms in the area. I decided to try and work at what I felt was the best CrossFit gym in town, and that is what happened.

After a little bit of time working at a gym in Fort Worth, plus getting to know the city a little better, I felt like there was plenty of market space for another CrossFit gym in this city. I ran this idea by those closest to me and I received green lights all around. What was I going to do to differentiate myself from all the other gyms in town? I decided to create what I call a “High End CrossFit Gym”. I wanted everything to be nice and new. I wanted the space to have air conditioning and be able to offer nice amenities. My goal when we opened was to constantly keep things new and constantly improving.

CrossFit Westwood opened its doors on August 1st, 2018. We started as a traditional CrossFit gym where we offered 1-hour group fitness classes. This became our bread and butter and still remains that way to this day. We are constantly striving to improve our facilities and to improve as a coaching staff to make people’s workout experience at Westwood exceptional.

My mission to constantly be improving is what led to the creation of Westwood Fitness. Today we offer our members an all inclusive, two-gym layout. Our second gym, Westwood Fitness, is a hybrid space where people can come in to workout at any time of the day and enjoy the more traditional “globo-gym” equipment as well as all the staple pieces of CrossFit equipment. I realized that it is impossible to accommodate everyone’s schedules and fitness goals. The idea of Westwood Fitness is to offer a space that can accommodate anyone searching for a place to work out.

WELCOME TO WESTWOOD!
